Fall Colors Torry Trip: Multi Day Trail Ride

Monday September 26:

Meet Costco 8:30 am or North Cedar City Exit Maverik 9:15 am. Travel Hwy 20 to Circleville to Kingston Canyon. Off road on Monroe Mountain road to Koosharem to Loa to Torrey. Check-in at Broken Spur Inn. $20 per person Dinner at 6:30 pm, (same meal as last Spring),  followed by a general information meeting. Plan to eat lunch on the Monroe Mountain – bring lunch.

**UPDATE***

A couple of updates regarding the “Fall Color Trip” to Torrey: The Broken Spur Inn is not open for check – in until 3:00 pm on Monday. Anyone who is not traveling with the group from Costco at 8:30 am, please note that you will not be able to check – in until 3:00 pm.  Rick Draney will meet you in the parking lot at 3:15 pm, for a 3 hour trail ride, that afternoon. I know some of you are staying in RV Parks. Meet Rick, and others, on Monday afternoon for a fun trail ride. 

For those who are meeting in Torrey, Rick Draney will lead a 3 hour run on the Boulder Mountain, from 3:00 to 6:00 pm. Monday. Meet in the parking lot of Broken Spur Inn at 3:00 pm.

Tuesday September 27:

      • Trail Ride #1, led by Rick Draney:     Meet 8:30 am. in Loa at Rick’s house. Mytoge Mountain to Fish Lake Overlooks to Na-Ga Flat to Hancock Flat Road. Back in Torrey by 5:00 pm.
      • Trail Ride #2, led by Hayes:      Meet 8:00 am. in parking lot Broken Spur Inn. Boulder Mountain to Hells Backbone, to Posey Lake to Whites Flat to Escalante Main Canyon to Barney Top Road. Return on Griffin Top Road to Posey Lake Road to Bicknell to Torrey. Back in Torrey by 6:30 pm.

Wednesday September 28:

      • Trial Ride #1, led by Rick Draney:     Meet 8:30 am. in Loa at Rick’s house. Johnson Reservoir to Cold Spring Trail to Rex Reservoir to Salina. Lunch will be in Salina at the authentic Mexican Restaurant. If you don’t wish to eat here, pack your lunch. Air-up at the Shell Station, (behind the gas station store), and return on the Gooseberry Road to Fish Lake and Loa. Back in Torrey by 4:30 pm.
      • Trail Ride #2, led by Hayes:       Meet 8:00 am. in parking lot of Broken Spur Inn, or 8:30 am. at Sinclair Station in Loa. Hwy 72 to I-70. Cross under to continue on Hwy 10 to Castle Dale. Joe’s Valley Reservoir to White Dugway to Skyline Drive to Mayfield Road to Salina. Air-up behind the Shell Station, next to I-70. Depending on the hour, there are 3 ways back to Torrey from here, but we will probably take Gooseberry Road. Back in Torrey by 7:00 pm.

Thursday September 29: 

Meet in parking lot of Broken Spur Inn 8:30 am – after checking-out. Loa to Koosharem to Circleville. Off-Road on Fremont Trail to Panguitch for lunch. Travel Hwy 20 or Hwy 143 to I-15 and St. George.

Breakfast each morning is included with a stay at Broken Spur Inn. You can get your lunch sandwich, chips and drink at the Subway at the bottom of the hill, or you can bring makings for lunch and keep them in your room refrigerator.

In the past, the Sinclair station in Loa is the cheapest gas. There is a car wash in Loa, Bicknell and Torrey. There is Free air in Loa behind the Sinclair Station, Bicknell at the car wash on the East side of town, and at the car wash in Torrey.

Please make sure you have a CB Radio, air-down valves, camera, snacks, drinks, lunch, camp chairs, jacket and possibly insect repellant.
